Surat People’s Co-Operative Bank Limited was established in 1922 in Surat. The bank was registered on 10 March 1922 and started functioning from 21 April 1922. The bank was the first registered urban co-operative bank in India and became a scheduled bank on September 1, 1988.
With the advent of the 20th century, the cooperative movement started in India. Late Shri Raosaheb Vrindavandas Jadav had dreamed of setting up a cooperative bank. And he founded the Surat People’s Co-Operative Bank Ltd.
The bank is serving the people of Surat and people of South Gujarat since last 97 years. Bank has 30 branches, 25 in Surat, 1 branch in Vapi, 1 branch in Navsari, 1 branch in Chikhali, 1 branch in Valsad and 1 branch in Mumbai.
